Damn you, Autocorrect!

Damn Autocorrect

Anyone with a modern mobile device knows how much of a bane and a blessing the autocorrect feature can be when typing out text messages, emails, notes and so on.

Often the autocorrect feature will change perfect text, without rhyme or reason, and before you realise the error, you have already hit send.

These ‘corrections’ almost always result in a bevy of hilarious, if not mortifying, messages to friends, loved ones, strangers or colleagues.

Consequently, the Internet is a buzz with this latest meme.

102 Random Facts About Me

102 Random Facts Aboutt Me (Meme Badge) Everyone who reads my blog knows of my affinity for numbers.

So it is of no surprise that when my fellow Twitter friends, @RubyLetters and @JessicaMcD, tweeted about their blog posts entitled ‘102 Random Facts About Me’; that I would instantly feel compelled to join in on this fun and revealing new Internet meme.

In celebration of what will no doubt be quite a momentous task (just think about how hard it is to think of 5 interesting things about yourself, never mind 102), I have created the ‘102 Random Facts About Me’ blogger badge. This badge will be awarded to anyone who can successfully write 102 things about themself. If you can complete the task, chances are quite good that you will receive a badge.

Without further ado, I present to you, ‘102 Random Facts About Me’.

99 Things

99 Things As if working on ‘102 Random Facts About Me’  was not enough, @JessicaMcD has, courtesy of her blog, once again inspired me to follow through with another number centric post: ‘99 Things’.

The ‘99 Things’ idea is to look at this list of 99 things you could have done, and bold the ones that you actually have done!

Here we go…

Music Monday: ‘7 Things’

Hans' Milieu earns a Kreativ Blogger AwardIt is Music Monday and thus time for another Vivaciously Varietal Vibe! However, this week I will be combining the usual Music Monday  post with an Internet meme known as ‘7 things’. Thus I will be killing two entries with one post. Yeah, I know, I am cool like that!

To your left, you will see a blogging accolade, of sorts. Yes, that is correct Millieunairs, someone thought my blog was good enough to receive a ‘Kreative Blogger’ award *lets out an unintentional squeal of joy*.

It turns out that the person who nominated me was none other than the awesomely hilarious Louisa. She nominated Hans’ Milieu as one of her favourite creative blogs! Thank you very much Lou, you rock!

7 Things Meme

As part of accepting the award, I have to list the following:

7 things I love:

  1. Getting to into a clean, crisp & well made bed. Best part? Slowly easing myself into the cool depths of silk-like cotton, which caresses my skin, while my body creates rippled creases.
  2. Curling up with a good book, particularly when it rains and it is overcast and cloudy.
  3. Liquids, any and all. I love examining different kinds of liquids, how they move and react to different stimuli as well as experimenting with a liquids viscosity.
  4. The Internet. I had to include it. Being able to access, use and distribute information, from any location and about practically any topic is simply incredible.
  5. Exercising, particularly weight lifting. I love the feeling of being ‘pumped’ and knowing that your body is growing and becoming stronger! Yeah!
  6. Buttered toast, the smell and the taste… *begins salivating*.
  7. Last, but by no means least; my parents, family and friends.

7 blogs I love:

I must confess, I do not really follow or read many personal blogs. I do, however, view a lot of websites and blogs which are driven by technology, social media, games and anything else which tickles my fancy.

Any of the blogs I have mentioned are welcome to nominate other blogs and play a long!

Miley Cyrus: Breakout

Music Monday

Rationale: My personal favourite on the album is ‘Fly on the Wall’, although most of the songs are actually pretty good. Granted it is standard pop fare, but she can actually sing!

Breakout is possibly the most generic title this set of songs could have, but it expresses the album’s purpose nicely: Miley sheds the confines of her Hannah Montana image for an identity that is just as stylized and calculated as her alter ego. As with all Disney music, nothing has been left to chance. Breakout hits all the marks that a 2008 pop album should, right down to a dance remix and a song about saving the environment; cunningly, "Wake Up America" is one of the album’s catchiest moments” – Heather Phares courtesy of All Music Guide (Zune.net, 2009)

As always, whenever I post about Vivaciously Varietal Vibes on Music Monday’s, simply click on the name of the song to be taken to a web page that displays the songs lyrics.

Until the next time “Milieunairs”!

RTFG – Passing Through Hard Times Bravely and Cheerfully!

Ah yes… Facebook – the all in one social networking utility. Last week I noticed a ‘friend’ off mine get tagged and then proceed to participate in another one of those classic Facebook ‘do’ notes, which are becoming quite popular (remember my Mellowship Slinky in B Minor post?). I had a look at what the ‘note’ was about and thought it was pretty cool. Hence why I have, once again, decided to share it with you all. Essentially the note is all about creating a cover of a music album, including manufacturing an artist. This is done by means of using content from randomly generated pages found on the world wide web. The instruction are as follows:

Make an album cover out of sheer internet randomness! Show your creative side!
To Do This:

1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random… Read More”
or click
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click
http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click
http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

5 – Post it to FB [or a blog] with this text in the "caption" or "comment" and TAG the friends you want to join in.

With the use of the aforementioned instructions, I am proud to introduce RTFG (Representation Theory of Finite Groups) and their debut album ‘Passing Through Hard Times Bravely and Cheerfully’!
