In this Place

Every now and again I like to dabble in the fine art of writing poetry.Tweet - I am at my most creative...

I am by no means an E. E. Cummings, Maya Angelou or William Shakespeare, but I do enjoy the word play and literary expression of emotion.

As alluded to in the above Tweet, my latest poem was inspired by the music of Ulrich Schnauss, which I find to be beautifully dream worthy. With that said, the poem is not about anyone in particular.

If you are interested, my latest poem is featured right after the jump.

Don’t call him ‘Big Mike’

The Blind Side 01If you have not heard the news yet, then where the heck have you been?

America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, won the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in "The Blind Side" at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.

The Blind Side" depicts the story of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American youngster from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a well-to-do white family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Oher’s presence in the Touhys’ lives leads them to some insightful self-discoveries of their own. Living in his new environment, the teen faces a completely different set of challenges to overcome. As a football player and student, Oher works hard and, with the help of his coaches and adopted family, becomes an All-American offensive left tackle.    (IMDB, 2010)

The question is… did she deserve it?

Battlestar Babes

Maxim - Battlestar Babes 01Battlestar Galactica stars Tricia Helfer and Grace Park will be appearing in the November issue of Maxim… and oh my frakk are they hot!

The eye candy is provided just in time too, coinciding with the release of the made for television movie Battlestar Galactica: The Plan, which serves as a prequel-ish take from the Cylon’s point of view and promises to be uber sexy *stops breathing and stares blankly into space, drooling*.

The intense asthmatic gasping you may be hearing, is that of the multitude of geekasms currently ebbing and flowing around this news. Not only do we get to see the two hottest Cylons in scantily clad outfits (thank you Maxim), but, courtesy of Sy-Fy, we also get to watch both Six and Boomer for another two whole hours… *pauses to process the news… then rushes off to change soiled underwear*.

Yes, life certainly is good!

“Pikachu… use FLASH”!

(As seen on Kotaku, via MaximumPC)Gloves?! Pikachu doesn't wear gloves!

“Wild Pikachu appeared!
Go Metapod!
Metapod used Harden!
Enemy Pikachu used Flash!
Metapod used String Shot!”

(Comment by Kotaku User: DJC89, 29 July 2009)

As a self-confessed Pokémon fan, I could not resist sharing the above photograph with all of you.

I may not be into costume role-playing (cosplay) but if Miss Pikachu is anything to go by, or her friends for that matter, I may very well have to re-evaluate my stance on the subject… *loses focus and drools slightly onto the keyboard*

For those who do not know; Cosplay, short for "costume role-play", is a type of performance art whereby participants outfit themselves with an elaborate costume of some kind, which is often adorned with theme specific accessories, that represents a specific character, idea or theme.

Cosplay participants ("cosplayers") form a subculture centered around wearing their costumes and re-enacting scenes or inventing likely behaviour inspired by their chosen sources. In some circles, the term cosplay has been broadened to include simply wearing a costume, without special consideration given to enacting characters in a performance context.

(Wikipedia, 2009)

So you see, having nerdish tendencies is not all bad. Admittedly a little strange, but not as bad as the stereotype would have you believe.

Until the next time “Milieunairs”!
